Shiean Walters, OTD, OTR/L
Shiean Walters, OTD, OTR/L is a licensed occupational therapist who is passionate about supporting children and their families. Her passion for occupational therapy began at a young age after watching two of her baby cousins, who were born three months premature, navigate multiple medical complications throughout their childhood. She had the opportunity to witness firsthand the impact that supportive healthcare professionals could have on their development and quality of life. That experience inspired her to pursue a career where she could provide the same support and encouragement to other children and families.
Shiean earned her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Angelo State University and her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy from Abilene Christian University. She was also a collegiate track and field athlete for five years.
Shiean believes therapy should be individualized, functional, creative, and collaborative; while also being fun and engaging for each child. She is passionate about helping children develop the skills they need to participate and succeed in their everyday lives, with special interests in sensory processing, feeding and picky eating, cognition, visual-motor skills, social skills, play, and behavior. Shiean values partnering with families to create meaningful strategies that can be carried over into everyday routines at home.
Outside of work, she enjoy exploring the city of Dallas with her boyfriend, going to church, working out, spending time with family and friends, traveling, crocheting, and creating bead art. Shiean is also excited to soon be welcoming her sweet baby girl!
